PERMANENT FULL-TIME POSITION IN NORTH VANCOUVER CLOSES: Open Until Filled BE PART OF SOMETHING MEANINGFUL!  Join the Ayás Mén̓men Child and Family Support Services Department as the Team Leader, Food Program, where you will support food security, community wellness, and culturally grounded teachings through the S7ilhen Food Pantry, Food & Medicine Garden, and Hydroponics Unit. Rooted in snew̓íyelh (teachings) and wenáxws (respect), this position plays a vital role in supporting Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw members through access to nutritious food, culturally aligned programming, and community education. As part of the Ayás Mén̓men Leadership Team, you will oversee daily operations, mentor staff, coordinate food production and access, and support community learning rooted in Squamish Nation values. Your leadership will contribute to long‑term food sovereignty and community wellness. WHAT YOU’LL DO * Oversee day‑to‑day delivery of the Food Program, including the Hydroponics Unit, Food & Medicine Garden, and S7ilhen Food Pantry. * Provide operational oversight of the Hydroponic Unit, including monitoring growth cycles, environmental conditions, and coordinating maintenance/repairs. * Plan, implement, and manage seasonal Food & Medicine Garden operations, including seeding, transplanting, harvesting, and pest management. * Coordinate harvesting schedules and ensure seamless distribution of produce to the Food Pantry. * Supervise Food Program staff, including onboarding, training, performance management, and regular team meetings. * Ensure compliance with Squamish Nation employment policies and workplace health & safety procedures. * Work closely with Communications to share program updates, offerings, and ways for members to access supports. * Build strong community connections and collaborate with other departments to increase awareness and access to Food Program initiatives. * Support coordination of community events that promote food sovereignty, food skills, and cultural teachings. * Contribute to annual work plans and budgets, including program reporting, statistics, and financial tracking. * Assist with program development, grant applications, and evaluation of food program outcomes. * Collaborate with Elders to integrate cultural guidance and teachings into program activities. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR * Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Child & Youth Care, Education, Psychology, First Nations Studies, Business Management, or a related field; equivalent combinations considered. * 4–5 years of directly related experience in program delivery, community services, staff supervision, or child/youth/family support. * Proven ability to lead, mentor, and supervise a team in a supportive and professional manner. * Strong skills in program planning, implementation, reporting, and evaluation. * Intermediate proficiency with MS Office, the internet, and large‑scale databases; JD Edwards is an asset. * Experience working in a First Nations environment or with Indigenous communities is preferred. * High emotional intelligence, professionalism, and the ability to maintain confidentiality. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence others. * Ability to stay calm and supportive in high‑pressure situations, using diplomacy and tact. * Highly organized and resourceful, with excellent time‑management abilities. * Valid BC Driver’s Licence (Class 4 or 5 preferred; Class 7N may be considered) and reliable vehicle access. * Ability to work evenings, weekends, and flexible hours as required.
