About the role In this role, you will lead the operations of the Mayoral Office, providing high-level strategic advice, coordination, and executive support to the Mayor and Deputy Mayor to enable them to effectively fulfil their civic, ceremonial, and governance responsibilities. You will lead a team of 2 with responsibility for the delivery of all Civic Events, Citizenship Ceremonies and coordination of attendance at City and Community events. Key responsibilities include: * Act as the conduit between the Office of the Mayor, Councillors, and the organisation to ensure clear and effective communication. * Provide timely advice, briefings, and support to the Mayor and Deputy Mayor on civic, governance, and organisational matters. * Support the Mayor in delivering their civic, ceremonial, and representative duties. * Prepare and coordinate mayoral communications including speeches, correspondence, and media materials. * Manage and coordinate the Mayor’s diary, meetings, correspondence, and administrative support functions. * Anticipate issues, risks, and priorities and provide proactive advice and support. * Lead and support administrative staff within the Mayoral Office, including coaching and day-to-day direction. * Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. * Ensure confidentiality and discretion in handling sensitive information. * Support coordination of civic events, meetings, and engagements, including preparation of briefing materials.   About you To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated experience in Local Government or a similar public sector environment with strong political acumen and understanding of local, state, and federal government structures, issues and responsibilities. Essential Experience: * Relevant qualification in Government Services or significant professional experience in a councillor or elected member support environment within a comparable organisation. * Proven experience in a leadership role, including leading and supporting high-performing and inclusive teams. * Demonstrated stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence, collaborate, and build effective working relationships. * Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including preparing clear and concise briefings and correspondence. * Strong organisational, planning, and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively. * Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively across diverse stakeholders to achieve outcomes. * Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a complex and fast-paced environment. * Experience monitoring emerging issues relevant to a Mayor’s Office or senior executive environment. * Working knowledge of operational budgeting and administrative coordination within a government or comparable setting.
