Responsibilities

ROLE OUTLINE:

The Team Leader is responsible for being a leadership resource to team members by providing their knowledge, experience, motivation, support and advice.
The Team Leader is also expected to relay Company policies and procedures to team members, and ensure that they follow and comply with Company rules and requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Report safety issues immediately to the Supervisor(s) and Shift Manager(s).
  • Report and resolve quality issues in your area.
  • Report staff lateness (including staff members returning late from breaks) to the Shift Manager.
  • Ensure staff are not leaving their work stations without prior authorisation.
  • Ensure that staff comply with the Company’s policies and procedures (e.g. to follow Health & Safety guidelines, no bags on shop floor, no mobile phones on shop floor, etc.).
  • Attend Tier 2 and lead Tier 1 meetings in order to improve communication with the workforce.
  • Ensure that targets are set for the team and are communicated effectively.
  • Motivate staff and ensure that staff morale is positive.
  • Ensure that all team members are trained and competent (and report any concerns to the Shift Manager(s)).
  • Ensure that all tools used are signed for by team members.
  • Maintain machinery to a high standard of cleanliness to ensure operational reliability.
  • Identify individual training needs so that staff are cross skilled (which will enable cover for staff sickness, holidays, etc.).
  • Ensure that there is a sufficient and effective handover between shifts.
  • Utilise all available resources to achieve your departmental goals.
  • Take accountability for the results of your area.
  • Set daily direction for your team members.
  • Review daily Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for your area.
  • Use ATP Boards and ATP Sheets on a daily basis.
