These roles are ideal for experienced Electrical Fitters, Line Mechanics or G&B specialists who want leadership responsibility while staying actively involved on the tools. You’ll coordinate day‑to‑day operations, maintain safety and quality standards, support field crews during faults, and work closely with Supervisors and Project Managers to manage work planning and resource allocation. You’ll also have access to industry‑leading upskilling opportunities, including: Cable Jointing Glove & Barrier Electrical Fitter development Leadership and technical pathways within Downer Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills We’re seeking strong leaders with proven field experience and a commitment to safety and team culture. For Electrical / Electrical Fitter Team Leaders: NZ‑recognised electrical trade qualification, registration and practising licence (NZQA L4 or equivalent) Strong technical capability across substations, equipment maintenance and distribution systems Ability to support crews with fault response, testing and diagnostics For Glove & Barrier (G&B) Team Leaders: Experience in G&B installation and practices Ability to lead safe work in high‑risk environments Willingness to train suitable candidates who bring the right attitude and aptitude For all Team Leader roles: Demonstrated leadership experience or strong readiness to step into leadership Excellent planning, communication and decision‑making skills Commitment to Zero Harm and maintaining a positive, safe team environment Ability to mentor and develop others while ensuring efficiency and work quality If you’re an experienced tradesperson ready to step into leadership or grow your current leadership capability, we’d love to hear from you.
