    The Department of Justice and Community Safety (Youth Justice) is responsible for the statutory supervision of young people in the criminal justice system in Victoria focussing on prevention, diversion, and early intervention as the most effective and fiscally responsible ways of reducing youth crime. As an area within the department, Youth Justice is committed to the demonstration of the departmental values at all times; serve the community, work together, act with integrity, respect other people and make it happen.
    Youth Justice system requires the development of a clear, well-articulated Structured Day for each precinct, with a focus on maximising engagement and consistency across precincts as much as possible. Be part of the initiative in the expansion of opportunities for young people to participate in recreation activities and life-skill programs.

The opportunity

  • Ongoing, full-time position based in Parkville.
  • YJW4 role: $104,545 - $118,631 per year plus super.
  • Manage the Youth Engagement Officers at Parkville Youth Justice Precinct to provide a comprehensive program and activities tailored to the cohorts interests and cultural backgrounds.
  • Plan programs for the Parkville in advance to ensure cultural, religious and significant days and events are acknowledged or celebrated.
  • Co-ordinate the delivery internal and external programs delivery across the Parkville Precinct.
  • Maintain an understanding of issues impacting on youth justice and investigate and lead critical projects that develop and review policies, professional standards and operating practices that enhance service delivery, budget effectiveness, efficiency and improved client outcomes.
Responsibilities

A current driver’s licence is required due to the need to work across different locations
