Job details •Proposed designation Team Leader •Role type Individual Contributor •Reporting to  Assistant Manager or above •Geography to be supported Canada Work timings General shift Roles & responsibilities We are recruiting an India or Canada qualified lawyer who can become an effective member of the KDN India OGC team, complementing the activities of Office of the General Counsel of KPMG LLP in Canada. The role is focused on contract reviews (service delivery as well as procurement) and it is based out of Gurugram office of KDN India. KPMG LLP, the Canadian member firm of the KPMG international network of professional services firms, provides audit, tax and advisory services to a wide variety of clients. The Canada Office of General Counsel (OGC) is a high performing team of lawyers supporting range of legal issues. The contracts group oversees KPMG’s contracting needs across Canada and plays a key role in the drafting and negotiation of engagement letters, technology contracts, technology license and service agreement, and other agreements related to the firm’s services. The team also supports the business on contract issues relating to proposals and tenders, and procurement contracts with the firm’s suppliers/vendors. The successful candidate is likely to be already providing similar contracting services as an in-house lawyer in another consultancy/professional services firm or similar environment. The person appointed will be an effective team player and a quick learner, interested in the opportunity to join the KDN India legal team servicing the Canadian member of one of the world’s largest networks of professional services providers. The new recruit will complement the activities of the members of the onshore team including: •Supporting the Canada OGC team with review and redlining of technology contracts like SaaS, license agreements, reseller agreements, etc. •Supporting and guiding the business across KPMG Canada on the review, drafting and negotiation of a wide range of engagement contracts, including Master Service Agreements, Standard Terms and Conditions, engagement letters or statements of work with the firm’s clients for various services, as guided by playbooks, policy and procedure. •Advising engagement teams on RFP proposals, including interpreting RFP requirements and reviewing proposed contractual terms and conditions against KPMG standards. •Responding to miscellaneous engagement or technology contract-related enquiries.     Mandatory  technical & functional skills •Experience handling legal or contracting queries, including drafting and negotiating technology related agreements. •analytical abilities with attention to details •ability to articulate points in writing and orally, clearly and succinctly •ability to persuade and influence where necessary •demonstrates strong curiosity, experience and a willingness to learn and leverage AI‑enabled technologies to drive operational excellence •excellent communication and interpersonal skills •commercial judgement and the ability to balance conflicting demands   Key behavioral attributes/requirements •ability to be calm under pressure •flexibility in terms of attending calls outside working hours as and when required. •ability to handle difficult or pressurized situations or people •commercial judgement and the ability to balance conflicting demands •initiative, self-confidence and authority •understanding of the risks faced by providers of professional services •understands how to balance the needs, demands and requirements of a global business with legal risks and protections •awareness of cultural issues affecting regulated professional services firms •must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume legal department with many different stakeholders worldwide.   Personal Qualities (i) task management abilities, (ii) energy, drive and resilience, (iii) team skills, (iv) client service skills, (v) cultural awareness and sensitivity, (vi) enjoys learning about technology and using it, (vii) common sense.   Other information •Interview process: 2-3 rounds of interviews •Does the job role involve travelling?
