Description Are you a tech enthusiast with a drive to help others? Warren-Newport Public Library in Gurnee, IL is seeking a dedicated Tech Desk Associate (hourly non-exempt range between $18.02 to $20.73 DOQ) to provide exceptional technical support to our patrons. This part-time position is at an average of 22 hours per week with the schedule being Monday and Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and one weekend shift per month. Weekend hours are Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Sunday hours are from Labor Day to Memorial Day. Sunday hours are paid at time and half). As the Tech Desk Associate, you'll empower patrons by providing friendly technology assistance and ensure everyone feels comfortable using the library's resources by offering support with computers, printing, and library software. Bilingual Spanish language skills would be especially helpful in serving our diverse patrons. Here's what you'll do: Assist library patrons in using library-provided computers and their personal devices connected to the library's Wi-Fi network. Offer support with tasks such as email, filling out online forms, printing, saving files, and general computer operations. Provide guidance on using the library's printers, photocopiers, scanners, and fax machines. Help ensure a welcoming and appropriate environment for patrons by following and enforcing library behavior policies, with the support of other staff members. Please note we have a designated IT department. This position is NOT an IT role for the library. Requirements To thrive in this role, you'll need: High school diploma or equivalent. Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and helpful demeanor, and a comfort working with diverse groups of people. Two years of technology support or training experience (preferred), with conversational fluency in Spanish a plus.
