About the job

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Tech Lead to help shape the development of a modern payments platform in Stockholm.

You will take technical ownership of backend services supporting business-critical payment flows, ensuring the platform remains scalable, secure and reliable as transaction volumes and customer demands continue to grow.

This is not a purely managerial position. You will remain close to the code while providing technical direction, supporting architectural decisions and helping other engineers develop.

What you will work on

As part of a cross-functional product and engineering environment, you will:

• Set the technical direction for core payment services and integrations
• Design scalable APIs, microservices and event-driven systems using .NET and C#
• Improve platform performance, reliability and observability
• Work with high-volume, business-critical transaction flows
• Lead technical discussions, design reviews and architectural decisions
• Mentor engineers and establish strong development standards
• Collaborate with product, risk, fraud and compliance stakeholders
• Contribute to cloud infrastructure, CI/CD and operational improvements

Minimum requirements

• Strong commercial experience developing backend systems with .NET and C#
• Experience as a Tech Lead, Lead Developer or senior engineer with technical ownership
• Experience designing distributed systems, APIs or microservice-based platforms
• Experience working with cloud-based systems
• Confidence balancing hands-on development with technical leadership
• Professional fluency in English

Relevant experience could include

• Payments, banking, FinTech or financial services
• Card issuing, acquiring, digital wallets or account-to-account payments
• Credit, BNPL, fraud prevention or transaction monitoring
• AWS or Azure
• Kafka, RabbitMQ or other event-driven technologies
• Kubernetes, Docker and infrastructure as code
• Regulated or high-availability environments
