Description

We are looking for an experienced Technical Accounting Manager to join a reputable non-profit organization in San Diego, California, on a contract basis. This hybrid position requires working onsite three days a week and remotely for two days, offering a dynamic environment for collaboration and flexibility. In this role, you will oversee key accounting functions, ensure compliance with government regulations, and support audit and financial reporting operations.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure all expenses, revenues, and receivables connected to government contracts are accurately recorded in compliance with federal and organizational standards.
  • Perform reconciliations for accounts receivable, deferred revenue, bank accounts, investment statements, and other key assets to facilitate month-end close processes.
  • Prepare comprehensive audit schedules and assist with various audits, including Uniform Guidance audits, supplemental audits, and Form 990 submissions.
  • Document and refine processes related to revenue recognition, deposits, and reconciliations, while addressing technical accounting challenges as they arise.
  • Collaborate with operational leaders to analyze financial data and record necessary adjustments.
  • Support the calculation of annual Negotiated Indirect Cost Rates and aid in the preparation of consolidated audited financial statements.
  • Conduct research on complex accounting issues to ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards.
  • Provide technical expertise in managing audits and reconciliations with a focus on accuracy and detail.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; active licensure or progress toward licensure is required.
  • At least 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in environments adhering to government contract regulations.
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP, technical accounting principles, and government contract accounting practices.
  • Proven ability to manage audits, reconciliations, and financial reporting with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong proficiency in month-end close processes, journal entries, and financial statement preparation.
  • Familiarity with revenue recognition and indirect cost rate calculations.
  • Skilled in managing tax-related submissions, including Form 990.
  • Experience in researching and resolving complex accounting issues in compliance with regulatory standards.
