ABOUT THE POSITION

We are seeking a talented Technical Artist with a strong background in Unity and a passion for virtual reality experiences. Your role will be to produce and modify digital assets to adhere to the creative vision of each project. Working with a development team and creative directors, you will be tasked with working on a variety of 3D models, visual effects, and shaders as required by the project.
By creating the visual elements of new immersive experiences, as well as helping the creative team bring their vision to life, you will play a key role in the development of PHI Studio’s creative projects, from prototype to the final work.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Minimum academic requirements: DEC in an appropriate field
  • Minimum years of experience: 3
  • Advanced knowledge of the Unity engine, its various tools (VFXGraph, ShaderGraph, SRP, timelines, animator…);
  • Ability to write simple C# scripts that may be required for visual effects;
  • Experience in graphics development and optimization (Shaders, Post-process, VFX, etc.) as well as in digital art content creation - high and low-poly modeling, texturing, animating, rigging, etc.;
  • Knowledge of constraints related to VR / AR development, and mobile development;
  • Advanced knowledge of Git and Git LFS;
  • Solid understanding of art and animation pipelines;
  • High level artistic skills - proportion, colour, composition;
  • Creative mindset and ability to overcome technical challenges;
  • High attention to detail;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in dealing with differences between creative and technical teams, and ability to receive and integrate external feedback;
  • Other: rigor, organizational skills, autonomy, curiosity, team spirit, and a taste for challenge are highly appreciated. Strong interest in culture, art, and digital media.

Responsibilities
  • Create or modify 3D assets for use in real-time game engines: models, characters, VFX, shaders, etc.
  • Help integrate assets into a game engine (Unity)
  • Optimize assets for target platform (Desktop/Mobile)
  • Participate in the setup of art production workflows
  • Research optimal software choices for specific tasks required by each project
  • Work directly with artists and creative directors to discuss and implement their vision
  • Take part in creative workshops to create prototypes and explore future projects
  • Stay up to date with innovation and progress in the field of rendering techniques
