Job Description CD PROJEKT RED is looking for a Technical Artist (VFX) to join our team working on The Witcher 4. In this role, you'll bridge the gap between art and tech, helping to shape the visual language of the game through advanced shaders, gameplay-reactive effects, and streamlined workflows. You’ll collaborate closely with artists, engineers, and Epic Games to push what’s possible in Unreal Engine. Daily Responsibilities Closely collaborate with VFX team to create shaders and VFX systems. Develop tools and workflows in Unreal Engine and DCC apps to support artists. Collaborate with engineers and Epic Games to implement new engine features. Mentor teammates and help foster a curious, collaborative, and inclusive tech art culture. Import and integrate VFX assets into the game engine, ensuring they function smoothly in gameplay. Profile, test, and optimize visual effects to meet GPU and CPU performance standards. Ensure all visual effects meet technical, performance, and visual quality standards. Troubleshoot rendering, shader, and pipeline issues throughout development. Qualifications Min. 5 years of experience or a strong track record in a technical art role within game development. Proficiency with Unreal Engine 5, including shader development and system integration. Experience with 3D content creation tools (e.g. Blender, Autodesk Maya, Substance Painter). Tool development experience using C++ and/or Python. Proven ability to solve complex technical challenges and debug with precision. Comfortable working both independently and with others on technically and creatively meaningful projects. Ability to collaborate across disciplines and clearly communicate technical concepts in a variety of formats. Strong written and spoken English communication skills. Nice to Have Experience in procedural content creation in Houdini. Experience with Blueprint scripting in Unreal Engine. Please include a portfolio that showcases your technical art contributions and, if possible, code samples or relevant tools/scripts that demonstrate your problem-solving and development skills.
