Description
The pharmacy technical assistant assists the pharmacist in the fulfilment of prescriptions, the keeping of patient files and the execution of technical duties related to the preparation and dispensing of medications. The technical assistant also participates in inventory management and other delegated tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet customers, carry out collection of data, create/update the patient’s file
  • Fulfill and package the prescriptions
  • Offer customer service that is professional, empathetic and enthusiastic
  • Respond to phone calls
  • Help detect potential problems of non-compliance and know to refer patients to the pharmacist, when required
  • See to the cleanliness and hygiene of the laboratory as well as the placement of merchandise
  • Maintain the stock of the pharmacy using the inventory control systems
  • Arrange transfers from third party payers (if applicable)
  • Perform the duties of pharmacy cashier, if needed
  • Monitor the expiry dates of medications

Requisite skills and knowledge:

  • Aptitude for mathematical calculations
  • Highly-developed sense of customer service
  • Communication skills, listening and empathy
  • Attention to thoroughness and detail
  • Autonomous
  • Team player
  • Good knowledge of both French and English
  • Pharmacy technical assistant diploma is an asset
  • Excellent computer skills: Word, Excel, RxPro
