Description
Over 30 years, we’ve grown from humble beginnings (founded 1995) to a global digital lottery technology leader (ASX: JIN), operating in Australia, the UK, Canada and the USA. We partner with thousands of good causes worldwide, helping raise over $290M in FY25 alone. Innovation is at the heart of everything we do. What will you be doing? This role sits within Jumbo’s Define pipeline, where work is shaped before it reaches engineering. In this newly created role as a Technical Business Analyst, you will be responsible for turning prioritised business initiatives into clear, structured, build-ready requirements that enable engineering teams to execute with confidence. Working as part of this newly created function, you will operate at the interface between business stakeholders and engineering delivery, helping transform ambiguous problems into validated requirements, user journeys, acceptance criteria, and supporting artefacts. You’ll work as part of the Engineering Trio alongside an Engineering Manager and Product Designer, aligning functional requirements with technical feasibility and user experience. This is a strong fit for someone comfortable working with technical stakeholders, who asks thoughtful questions, challenges assumptions constructively, and enjoys bringing clarity and structure to complex or evolving work. Importantly, this role does not own product strategy, roadmap prioritisation, or delivery outcomes. Instead, it focuses on functional clarity and ensuring work meets the Definition of Ready standards before entering the engineering pipeline. Reports to: Delivery Lead What Success Looks Like Engineering receives clear, unambiguous, technically sound requirements Reduced rework and fewer delivery delays through stronger upfront problem clarification Strong stakeholder alignment and formal sign-off before work enters the build Consistent, high-quality documentation that supports engineering delivery A healthy flow of build-ready work through the Define pipeline Key Challenges Helping shape a new function while ways of working continue to mature Balancing structure and rigour with speed and responsiveness Managing competing stakeholder needs and priorities Translating complex technical and business inputs into clear requirements Ensuring downstream impacts are identified early and reflected in requirements What Your Day-to-Day Will Look Like Translate stakeholder input and prioritised initiatives into structured requirements, user journeys, acceptance criteria, and supporting documentation. Maintain a pipeline of build-ready work to support upcoming initiatives Facilitate workshops and stakeholder discussions to uncover requirements, validate business logic, and identify assumptions Assess and communicate downstream impacts across operations, support, Customer Success, and other teams Act as a key point of contact for stakeholders, managing alignment and sign-off on functional requirements Partner with the Engineering Trio (Technical Business Analyst, Engineering Manager, Product Designer) to shape initiatives across function, UX, and technical feasibility Work with Engineering Managers and Technical Leads to identify constraints early and incorporate them into requirement scoping Collaborate with Product Designers to ensure user journeys and acceptance criteria align with intended functionality Contribute to improving ways of working, tooling, and documentation standards What You’ll Need to Bring to the Role Experience as a Business Analyst or Technical Business Analyst within a technology or software environment Strong ability to work with engineering teams and understand technical constraints, systems, and dependencies Experience eliciting and validating requirements through stakeholder interviews, workshops, and discovery sessions Strong capability in writing clear functional and technical requirements Familiarity with prioritisation frameworks such as MoSCoW or similar approaches Solid understanding of the software delivery lifecycle and agile ways of working (Scrum, Kanban, or similar) Experience working within governance models such as Definition of Ready and Definition of Done Proficiency with tools such as Jira and Confluence Strong communication skills across both technical and non-technical audiences Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail Confidence to challenge assumptions, identify gaps, surface edge cases, and raise risks early Nice to Have Experience working on SaaS or digital product environments Exposure to APIs, system integrations, or data flows Experience in organisations undergoing delivery or operating model transformation Salary Banding: $120,000 - $132,000 + Super Our Ways of Working At Jumbo, we value balance and flexibility.
