About the role We are seeking a Technical Communications Officer to join our Transmission Services Telecommunications Northern team based in Port Macquarie. If you are a qualified Telecommunications Technician or an Electrical Technician who is interested in branching out into the telecommunications field, we strongly encourage you to apply. An excellent opportunity to join the team that builds, operates, and maintains Essential Energy’s expansive telecommunications network across diverse communication technologies. As a Technical Communications Officer, you’ll be involved in the installation, commissioning, maintenance and integration of mobile radio, microwave radio, fibre optics, data, telephony, SCADA, protection and Remedial Action Scheme (RAS) telecommunication systems across our network. You’ll also work on supporting infrastructure including DC systems, solar power systems, telecommunication rooms and more than 170 radio and telecommunication sites. While the role is based in Port Macquarie, you will be required to travel and work remotely at times, with opportunities to contribute to both small and large-scale projects, along with routine maintenance tasks across Essential Energy’s operational footprint. About you You have a strong interest in telecommunications and enjoy problem‑solving in dynamic, operational environments. You bring experience in the installation, commissioning, maintenance and repair of critical infrastructure, along with strong diagnostic fault‑finding and repair capabilities. You’re comfortable managing incidents, supervising contractors and teams on site, and can work effectively both independently and as part of a team. With a sound understanding of computer systems and operational software, you’re motivated to continually develop your skills and knowledge while following direction and contributing to safe, efficient outcomes. Required Qualifications * Class C driver’s licence * SafeWork general construction induction card (white card) * Certificate IV in Telecommunications Network Engineering or demonstrated capability through past employment experience and/or relevant qualification/or willingness to obtain * ACMA open registered cabler (structured, optical-fibre, co-axial) or willingness to obtain * Zone substation entry authorisation or willingness to obtain * Qualified and authorised to work at heights or willingness to obtain Desirable: * Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician * First aid certificate     Why Join Transmission Services Telecommunications Northern?
