As a part of the NetWitness Consulting practice, the Technical Consultant role sits at the intersection of technology and business: you will translate client needs into secure, operational solutions; design, implement, and validate technical controls; and ensure customers can operate and scale those solutions effectively. You will work directly with clients across industries to perform technical assessments, deliver fit-for-purpose solutions, and provide hands-on implementation, testing, training, and ongoing support. This role requires strong technical ability, excellent client-facing communication, and a pragmatic mindset focused on solving real operational problems. Role details: Consultant | Nationality: Citizen of any NATO country. Languages: Italian and English (fluent). Location: Based in any NATO country within the EU. Remote with travel to client sites as required. Responsibilities: Technical analysis & assessment Perform technical discovery and assessments (network, endpoint, cloud, identity, applications) to identify gaps between the current state and the desired security posture. Produce clear, actionable findings and prioritized remediation roadmaps. Solution design & implementation Design pragmatic, scalable security solutions that align with business and operational constraints. Lead or support implementation activities, including configuration, integration, deployment, and tuning of security controls (SIEM, EDR, CASB, IAM, cloud-native security tools, network controls, etc.). Client consultation & communication Serve as a technical advisor to client stakeholders (security, IT ops, architects, and leadership). Translate technical trade-offs into business impact and recommended courses of action. Testing & troubleshooting Validate deployments through hands-on testing, verification, and tuning. Troubleshoot integration issues, performance problems, and false positives/negatives to ensure operational effectiveness. Documentation & reporting Produce high-quality technical documentation, runbooks, architecture diagrams, and executive summaries. Deliver deliverables that are usable by both technical teams and business leaders. Training & knowledge transfer Provide tailored training, workshops, and operational handover to client teams so they can sustain and operate the implemented solutions. Project collaboration & delivery Work within multi-disciplinary project teams (PMs, engineers, product specialists) to deliver engagements on time and on budget. Assist with scoping, estimation, and risk management. Continuous learning & thought leadership Keep current with emerging threats, vendor features, and industry best practices. Contribute to internal knowledge bases, playbooks, and enablement materials. Required skills & experience: 4+ years of hands-on experience in security engineering, consulting, or related technical roles. Strong technical foundation across at least two of the following domains: Cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP) — architecture, identity, automation, and cloud-native controls. Network & perimeter security (firewalls, VPN, IDS/IPS, segmentation). Endpoint protection and detection (EDR/XDR) — deployment, tuning, detection engineering. Identity & Access Management (Active Directory/Azure AD, SSO, PAM). SIEM / logging / observability — ingestion, parsing, detection rules, and alerting workflows. Web and API security (OWASP, authentication, API gateways). Practical experience with automation and scripting (Python, PowerShell, Bash) to perform analysis, deployments or integrations. Experience deploying, integrating, or operating security products (commercial or open-source) and producing operational playbooks/runbooks. Proven client-facing experience: scoping, presenting findings, and guiding technical and non-technical stakeholders through remediation. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills; comfortable working in ambiguous environments and under time constraints. Excellent written and verbal communication in English and Italian. Desirable (nice to have): Experience with container/Kubernetes security and/or DevSecOps integrations. Prior consulting or professional services delivery experience. Familiarity with compliance and frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, GDPR, MITRE ATT&CK). Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP, or vendor-specific certificates (AWS/Azure/GCP security specialties).
