High-Level Overview Client is an organization supporting national efforts to enable an inclusive and sustainable transition to a low-carbon economy; whose implementing partner has identified a need for targeted project preparation support to strengthen governance, financial readiness, and alignment of community and sectoral projects with funder requirements. This assignment focuses on improving the structure, quality, and fundability of projects in an existing portfolio, thereby enhancing their ability to attract both domestic and international financing. The Technical Consultant will review and strengthen the technical design and feasibility of projects across a varied portfolio. Working closely with the Lead Consultant and subject matter experts, the consultant will ensure each project is technically sound, practical to implement, and aligned with sustainability and fundability criteria. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with the ability to translate complex concepts into implementable and fundable proposals. They should have experience assessing projects across diverse sectors and demonstrate deep knowledge in at least one area, bringing a pragmatic and solutions-oriented approach to multidisciplinary collaboration. Role and Responsibilities Role: Technical Consultant – Project Preparation Direct Report: Lead Consultant – Project Preparation Candidates Required: 1-3 Key Deliverables: Technical reviews and validation reports assessing project design, feasibility, and implementation readiness. Structured recommendations to strengthen project design, structure, and alignment with funder priorities. Contributions to project readiness assessments and summary reports prepared with the Lead Consultant. Participation in technical review meetings, working sessions, and pitch preparation activities. Inputs to final documentation and reporting outputs summarizing technical findings and recommendations. Portfolio-level insights and learnings capturing key trends, technical gaps, and lessons drawn from project reviews to inform future preparation and pipeline development. Requirements Experience Required: Demonstrated experience conducting technical and feasibility assessments for projects in one or more of the following areas: Renewable and clean energy generation (e.g., solar, wind, bioenergy, hydro) Green transport and mobility solutions Industrial decarbonization and energy efficiency Waste management and circular economy initiatives Climate-smart agriculture and land-use management Community-level infrastructure and livelihood projects Skills development and inclusive transition initiatives Proven ability to evaluate multi-sector projects and identify technical risks, implementation requirements, and opportunities for improvement. Experience contributing to funding proposals, business cases, or investment-readiness assessments for technical projects. Understanding of sustainability frameworks, environmental and social safeguards, and local implementation contexts. Strong familiarity with technical criteria used by public, private, or philanthropic funders. Technical Requirements: Expertise in project design, feasibility assessment, financial structuring, and investment-readiness Strong capabilities in governance assessment and institutional strengthening Familiarity with technical standards and funding criteria relevant to climate and just transition projects Ability to lead, manage documentation, reporting, and performance tracking across multiple workstreams Other Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, with an ability to explain complex technical issues clearly. Strong collaboration skills and openness to multidisciplinary teamwork. Attention to detail, organization, and commitment to quality assurance.
