The Technical Contract Manager is responsible for managing technical service contracts, delivering capital and lifecycle projects, and ensuring compliance and performance across a regional portfolio. This will be covering the North Region. The role includes project delivery, asset life cycle planning, and regular travel across sites to maintain high standards of service and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Contract & Technical Management:
- Manage technical service contracts across multiple sites or regions.
- Ensure contractors meet agreed service levels, KPIs, and compliance requirements.
- Lead contract reviews, renewals, and negotiations to drive performance and value.
Project Management:
- Deliver minor works and capital projects from concept to completion.
- Develop project scopes, budgets, and timelines in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Monitor project progress, manage risks, and ensure delivery to specification, time, and cost.
- Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and internal teams for successful execution.
Asset & Life Cycle Management:
- Maintain asset registers and develop life cycle replacement strategies.
- Analyse asset condition data to inform investment planning.
- Support budgeting and forecasting for planned maintenance and capital works.
- Promote sustainability and energy efficiency in asset planning.
Regional Responsibility:
- Travel across the region to oversee contract delivery, site inspections, and project implementation.
- Build strong relationships with site teams and ensure consistent service standards.
- Respond to site-specific issues and provide hands-on support where needed.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure all works comply with statutory regulations and industry best practices.
- Conduct audits, inspections, and performance reviews.
- Address non-compliance and implement corrective actions.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the primary contact for technical and contractual matters.
- Liaise with internal departments, clients, and external partners.
- Support procurement and tendering processes.
Financial & Reporting
- Monitor budgets and ensure cost control across contracts and projects.
- Prepare reports and dashboards for senior leadership.
- Support financial planning and investment appraisals.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum HND in Engineering, Building Services, Facilities Management, or a related technical discipline.
- Proven experience in managing technical contracts and delivering capital or lifecycle projects.
- Strong understanding of asset management, compliance, and health & safety legislation.
- Experience using CAFM systems for asset tracking, maintenance planning, and performance monitoring.
- Familiarity with SFG20 standards and their application in planned maintenance regimes.
- Excellent project management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and contract management tools.
Desirable
- Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., CIBSE, IWFM, RICS).
- Experience with NEC or JCT contract frameworks.
- Project management certification (e.g., PRINCE2, APM).
- Knowledge of sustainability and energy efficiency standards.
