KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required to effectively advise and support Service Heads
  • Previously worked in a similar role dealing with a wide range of applications across various stakeholders and must have proven data manipulation skills using T-SQL, or similar.
  • Experience of working with large and complex data sets from a variety of sources and database types (eg MSSQL, Oracle, POSTGRESQL)

Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW:

An opportunity has arisen in the councils ICT service to join our Data Team, as a Technical Data Analyst/Engineer.
You will work closely with stakeholders across the council to gather requirements, design data pipelines, and ensure the integrity and reliability of datasets. Key responsibilities include extracting and cleansing data from various sources, building and maintaining a robust data services platform, you will also support the Business Intelligence Service in the development of dashboards and reports that clearly communicate insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
In addition, you will be expected to contribute to data governance practices, uphold privacy and security standards, and champion the use of data-driven approaches in policy development and operational improvements.
The role requires a keen analytical mindset, technical proficiency in data tools and programming languages, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving within cross-functional teams. Your work will directly influence service efficiency, resource allocation, and the enhancement of outcomes for local communities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To proactively develop and maintain a single integrated data repository using a variety of data sources to enable analysts to access and gains insights to data items and query, as necessary.
  • Identify and integrate multiple complex data sources using a variety of technologies and software, such as Microsoft Azure Data Engineering Tools (including Azure Synapse Analytics), RDBMS tools (such as SSMS), and development environments like Visual Studio Code.
  • Writing technical design documents, complex queries, identifying quality and security requirements and undertaking checks to ensure accuracy.
  • Model and champion, the integration and automation of data collection and reporting; ensuring effective data and insight supports continuous improvement and transformation into data driven high performing services.Provide technical data support, advice, and guidance, maintaining strong relationships with a varied range of officers and partners across council services, whilst working in a collaborative and matrix manner with all members of the ICT team as and when the need arises
