We are looking for a full-time Technical Design Engineer to join our dedicated team in Poole. This is an exciting opportunity for either a recent graduate in Product Design or Mechanical Engineering or an experienced Design Engineer seeking a varied and hands-on role in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience with 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Strong technical and analytical skills, including stress analysis and basic FEA
  • Strong communication and organisational abilities
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to manage tasks independently
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with Adobe InDesign is a plus
  • Understanding of British and European engineering standards desirable
  • Full UK driving licence preferred
Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Concept and detail design for new and bespoke products
  • 3D CAD modelling and creation of detailed part drawings using SolidWorks
  • Product testing and validation, including manual calculations and FEA analysis
  • Producing engineering documentation such as risk assessments, FMEA, and technical files
  • Creating user manuals and technical documents
  • Liaising with customers and suppliers on technical requirements and design queries
  • Supporting the technical sales team with drawings and design input
  • Maintaining and improving existing product designs, including change notes and ECNR documentation
  • Supporting production with design updates to optimise manufacturing and reduce costs
  • Assisting in fault diagnosis and design improvements for existing products
  • Involvement in R&D projects and new product development

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Organising and updating shared design files and digital libraries
  • Preparing shipping crate designs and documentation
  • Evaluating product configurations to ensure safety and compliance
  • Creating clear GA (General Arrangement) drawings with customer-supplied samples
  • Participating in on-site customer visits and remote meetings to support sales and project scoping
