Dale Automation Pty Ltd is a specialist provider of advanced food production machinery, including spiral freezers, spiral coolers, provers, ovens, and automated conveyor systems. Backed by over 25 years of engineering and manufacturing experience through our South African parent company, we deliver bespoke automation solutions for bakeries and food processing plants globally.
We are expanding our technical footprint in Australia and are now seeking a dynamic, technically strong Operations Director to lead our national operations.
Position Overview
The Director will be responsible for end-to-end operational leadership across our Australian business, ensuring technical integrity, strategic development, and successful client outcomes. This is a highly specialised role requiring deep knowledge of mechanical and electrical food production systems and the ability to lead a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities- Develop operational strategies and manage budgets for a growing national business.
- Implement preventive maintenance frameworks and compliance with Australian safety regulations.
- Provides overall direction and management to the Australian business.
-Approves and presents reports, budgets and forecasts to major stakeholders and boards of directors
- Drive continuous improvement across customer service, supply chain, and technical processes.
- Manage major project delivery including resource allocation, subcontractor oversight, and client liaison.
- Lead recruitment, training, and development of the Australian technical and support team.
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in the food processing, bakery, or manufacturing automation sector.
- Proven experience managing -teams and projects.
- Strong mechanical and electrical understanding of food production lines
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- High-level project management experience.
- Ability to work with both local teams and international technical stakeholders.
Desirable Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering.
- Certification in OHS, rigging/lifting, confined spaces, and/or food safety compliance.
- Familiarity and experience with industrial burners, AutoCAD, Microsoft Projects, and manufacturing software.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $175,000.00 – $200,000.00 per year
