SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • 8+ years’ experience in professional live event production or technical direction.
  • Proficiency in 3D modelling and CAD software (Vectorworks, AutoCAD, SketchUp).
  • Advanced knowledge of digital mixing consoles, lighting desks, and media servers (A&H dLive, Soundcraft Vi, MA2/MA3, Resolume, Disguise, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of networked audio/video protocols (Dante, AVB, MADI, NDI, SMPTE).
  • Skilled in system design, PA deployment, and acoustic optimisation.
  • Solid knowledge of rigging principles and safety compliance (Rigging Tickets highly regarded).
  • Excellent project management, communication, and client service skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, with flexibility for evenings, weekends, and travel.
  • Current driver’s licence (MR/HR truck licence desirable).

Responsibilities

THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced Technical Director with a proven track record in large-scale live productions. This is a senior, full-time role requiring 8+ years of professional industry experience, advanced technical expertise, and strong leadership skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee technical planning, design, and execution of live events across concerts, touring, and corporate sectors.
  • Lead and mentor production teams spanning audio, lighting, video, and staging.
  • Provide 3D modelling and technical drawings using Vectorworks, AutoCAD, or similar software to design rigging, staging, and production layouts.
  • Manage deployment of advanced control systems and digital networks (e.g., Dante, AVB, MADI).
  • Supervise PA/lighting/video design and tuning using industry-standard tools (SMAART, LA Network Manager, ArmoníaPlus, EV Preview, MA3, etc.).
  • Ensure WHS compliance, rigging safety, and venue technical requirements are met.
  • Liaise with promoters, clients, touring crews, and venues to deliver projects to the highest standards.
  • Manage budgets, equipment schedules, and production logistics.
