As part of our continued growth across ecological policy, natural capital and biodiversity advisory, we are seeking a Technical Director to provide leadership, assurance and strategic direction across our ecology and biodiversity portfolio. The Opportunity As a Technical Director, you will act as a recognised internal and external authority, providing senior technical oversight, peer review and strategic policy advice to government and institutional clients. You will shape KBR’s ecological and biodiversity advisory services, influence policy outcomes, mentor senior consultants and play a key role in practice leadership, governance and business growth, while remaining hands‑on in complex and high‑profile work. Key Responsibilities Technical & Strategic Leadership Act as Technical Authority for ecology‑related policy, biodiversity offsets and natural capital programs across major advisory engagements. Provide senior strategic policy advice to government clients, supporting decision‑making at executive and ministerial levels. Lead and sign‑off on peer review and assurance of high‑risk, complex or sensitive reports and policy outputs. Ensure technical excellence, consistency, compliance and fitness‑for‑purpose of deliverables intended for government use. Biodiversity & Natural Capital Advisory Provide expert advice on biodiversity offset frameworks, ecological policy settings and evolving regulatory requirements. Lead thought leadership in natural capital, ecosystem services and sustainability‑driven policy development. Translate complex ecological data into clear, defensible and policy‑ready advice. Practice, People & Capability Leadership Mentor senior and emerging consultants, lifting technical capability, confidence and judgement across the team. Set technical standards, guidance and review frameworks aligned to KBR governance and quality systems. Support workforce planning, technical development pathways and succession planning within the ecology and sustainability practice. Client & Market Leadership Act as a trusted adviser to government departments and agencies, maintaining long‑term client relationships. Contribute to business development, bids and proposals, shaping strategic positioning and technical narratives. Represent KBR in senior forums, stakeholder engagements and industry discussions relevant to ecology and biodiversity policy. What You Bring You are a respected leader with credibility across government and consulting environments, combining deep technical expertise with commercial and people leadership capability. Qualifications & Experience Extensive experience in ecology‑related policy, environmental governance or sustainability advisory. Deep expertise in biodiversity offsets and natural capital / environmental programs. Strong experience advising government clients (state and/or Commonwealth), including executive‑level stakeholders. Demonstrated consulting leadership, with accountability for quality, assurance, and mentoring others. Ability to operate as a Technical Director / authority, exercising judgement across complex, high‑risk work. Strong alignment to sustainability outcomes and public‑interest decision‑making. Relevant tertiary qualifications in ecology, environmental science, sustainability, planning or related discipline. Postgraduate qualifications or professional recognition highly regarded.
