Job Summary The Technical Documentation Specialist is responsible for developing and maintaining technical documentation including manuals, drawings, and process documentation. This role works closely with engineers, designers, and other technical staff to ensure that documentation is accurate, well-organized, and aligned with company and industry standards. Additionally, this position will track the status of engineering documentation and facilitate its timely approval by implementing an effective tracking system. Essential Job Duties: Create, edit, and maintain technical documents including drawings, assembly guides, and work instructions. Interpret and document technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints. Collaborate with engineers and designers to gather information for documentation. Update and revise existing documentation to reflect design changes and process improvements. Utilize CAD software and other drafting tools to support documentation efforts. Maintain document version control and organization within a document management system. Ensure all documentation complies with industry standards and company guidelines. Assist in the creation of visual aids, diagrams, and exploded views for manuals and instructional materials. Track the status of engineering documentation and facilitate the approval process to ensure timely completion. Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to resolve approval delays and maintain documentation workflow efficiency. Present new processes and procedures related to your role to management teams providing clear explanations and addressing any concerns to ensure successful implementation Requirements Experience And Education: Proficiency in CAD software for interpreting and creating technical drawings. Proficient technical writing skills for creating clear, concise documentation. Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in both technical documentation and data tracking. Experience with document management systems (PDM, SharePoint, or similar) and version control practices. Familiarity with industry standards (ASME Y14.5, GD&T, or similar) and regulatory requirements. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (engineers, designers, production) to clarify technical details. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), especially Excel for data tracking and reporting. Strong organizational skills for managing multiple projects and ensuring timely document approvals. MINIMUM: 1 year of College Coursework in Drafting Technology with an emphasis on CAD design 5+ years of experience in technical documentation, drafting, or a related role. PREFERRED: Associate’s degree in mechanical computer Aided Design or equivalent engineering field. 10+ years of experience in technical documentation and drafting. Experience working in a manufacturing, engineering, or technical environment is a plus.
