Work Environment: Hybrid (three days in-office) Locations: Berwyn, Lancaster, Lehigh Valley, Mechanicsburg, State College, Williamsport, or Pittsburgh, PA; Akron/Canton, OH; or Morgantown, WV Position Summary / What You’ll Do The Transportation Technical Engineer is a senior-level role focused on providing technical depth, innovation, and quality assurance across transportation projects. While not always the project lead, you will serve as a go-to expert for complex design tasks, mentor staff, and help shape RETTEW’s technical practices. Responsibilities / Day-to-Day Review and stamp complex or design-critical drawings and deliverables when licensed. Serve as a subject matter expert in specialized technical areas such as structural stability, advanced modeling, or complex roadway and traffic geometries. Provide engineering judgment, technical guidance, and mentoring to junior and mid-level staff. Participate in peer review sessions and provide solutions for difficult design and constructability challenges. Collaborate in research and development of new materials, methods, or technologies while contributing to design standards and internal practices. Support proposals and pursuits for technically demanding projects, helping to define technical scope and risk. Qualifications Required: Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering PE license 15+ years of technical experience in transportation or structural engineering Recognized expertise in complex technical areas Strong technical writing and presentation skills Experience mentoring staff Preferred: Master’s degree Background in advanced computational modeling or innovative design practices What We Offer Competitive compensation package with salary range based on experience.
