We are now looking for an enthusiastic Technical Expert, Engine Automation to join our skilled Technical Service team in Rubbestadneset, Bømlo. We welcome applicants at various levels of seniority, as the role can also be offered as Senior Technical Expert.
Responsibilities:
WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?
As Technical Expert, Engine Automation, you will provide our internal and external customers with high level technical support on automation and control related matters. You will solve complex technical issues by acquired experience and know-how, collaborating closely with other technical departments to enable efficient world-class service.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE ROLE INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Conducting and participating in root cause analysis.
- Occasional travel to conduct audits, site surveys, and troubleshooting in the field, approximately 20 to 30 days per year.
- Handling engine software configuration, updates, and backups.
- Collecting field feedback, creating feedback analyses and product reports.
- Preparing service bulletins, manuals, investigation reports, survey reports, and other relevant technical documentation.
- Initiating and supporting improvement processes for 4-stroke products.
- Sharing knowledge through product training for internal staff.
- Attending customer meetings and seminars in cooperation with our Service Sales Department.
- Following up and solving problems together with other technical departments within Wärtsilä.
- Supporting other departments in need of product and field related knowledge.
- Supporting new product introductions through testing and validation.
- Actively following relevant development and innovations both internally and externally through literature, research, and contact with other businesses.
- Participating in our 24/7 duty.
THE FOLLOWING WILL ENABLE YOU TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE:
- BSc in Automation, Electrical, or Marine Engineering, similar educational background, or qualifications gained through relevant work experience.
- Significant experience with 4-stroke engine automation systems and machinery controls.
- Experience with troubleshooting along with strong technical problem-solving skills.
- Experience with analysis and reporting.
- Knowledge of Wärtsilä product operations, installations, or maintenance is advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a service-oriented mindset to help provide the best possible service experience to our customers.
- True team player qualities with excellent cooperation skills.
- Structured, analytical, proactive, and flexible way of working.
- Passion for learning, competence development, and professional growth.
- Proficient English and Norwegian or Scandinavian language skills.
- Safety certificate for offshore work (if not already obtained, Wärtsilä will cover associated costs).
