Malcolm Barnecutt Bakeries employ over 270 employees in locations across Cornwall and Devon and are accredited with being one of the top 150 employers in Cornwall.
We are now recruiting for a Technical Food Safety Manager to join the operations team in Bodmin, working 3-days a week (24 hours approx.).

Responsibilities

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

You will be promoting a positive food safety culture and overseeing the implementation of a comprehensive food safety strategy, ensuring compliance with food safety, legal standards, and brand integrity across Malcolm Barnecutt Bakery.
To focus on setting and achieving the highest standards for technical food safety and product quality and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements across our production and retail sites.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain and improve food safety, quality, and hygiene standards throughout the company.
  • HACCP – writing and implementation of policy.
  • Prepare for internal and external food safety audits.
  • Manage microbiological testing and ensure results are effectively actioned.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments (Operations, Head of Production, Head of Retail) on food safety initiatives.
  • Challenge and improve hygiene programs within the units.
  • Facilitate and manage the transfer of new technology into the units.
  • Ensure continuous improvement ethos is embedded into the role.
  • Expected to communicate and provide food safety standards training to the teams, monitor compliance, and address issues per company procedures.
  • Conduct food hygiene and allergen management training across the business.
  • Responsible for supplier approval and ongoing capability assessment through ongoing supplier management and risk assessment.
  • Performance of all duties in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Active and positive contribution to Company processes such as job reviews or appraisals.
  • To work at all times in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work and Food Hygiene Laws and to follow all Company procedures and guidelines which assist with this.
  • To work at all times in accordance with the policies and organisational rules and practices found in the Company Policy Manual and Team Guide.
  • To undertake such other duties as may be required within the general scope of the job.
