Description
The people here at Apple don’t just build products — they build the kind of wonder that’s revolutionized entire industries! It’s the diversity of those people and their ideas that encourage the innovation that runs through everything we do, from amazing technology to industry-leading environmental efforts. Join Apple, and help us leave the world better than we found it. Imagine what you could do here. Apple is looking for an Opto-Materials Intern who will be able to participate in the development of next-generation optical devices and components, as part of PPO (Panel Process and Optics) team in YTC (Yokohama Technology Center) of Apple Japan. Intern will support material development of optical coating, which is the one of foundations for Apple products. Internship project will focus on the synthesis, formulation, characterization, and coating process development of optical-functional, thermosetting, and organic-inorganic hybrid materials. DESCRIPTION Possible tasks to be performed during internship duration: - Design and synthesize optical coating materials. - Formulate materials, optimize viscosity, dispersion, and shelf stability - Characterize materials using analysis tool such as FT-IR, Raman, and other relevant analytical techniques - Evaluate thin-film properties, including optical characteristics, uniformity, adhesion, curing behavior, and environmental reliability MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Pursuing Masters of PhD degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Applied Chemistry, Optics, or related disciplines Hands-on lab experience for material formulation, coating and its analysis Communication skills in Japanese and English Must hold relevant work permit in Japan for the duration of the internship. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Analytical mindset with a focus on accuracy and detail in synthesizing simulated and experimental data Ability to work independently on complex, research-driven tasks while effectively communicating findings to the team.
Responsibilities
The intern will participate in the development of next-generation optical devices and components, focusing on the synthesis, formulation, characterization, and coating process development of optical-functional materials. The role involves designing and synthesizing optical coating materials and evaluating their properties.
