SUMMARY

We are seeking a Technical Lead to join our dynamic team in Calgary. The Technical Lead position is intended to support the technical sales functions of Westech Industrial for its analytical product offerings and other technology applications as directed by the
Product Manager, Analytical Systems or the Sr. Technical Lead, Application Engineering. The Application engineering team will work closely with the systems integration team as needed on analytical design for its systems integration.
The purpose of this role is to support new sales opportunities in conjunction with Westech’s technical sales team. The role requires interaction between all Westech technical sales representatives, customers and the systems integration department.

This role is wide ranging and creative, the purpose of the job is:

• Support the product manager to free time for customer interactions and marketing initiatives
• Assist with preparation of marketing material and technical papers on request by the product manager
• Primary point of contact for day to day tasks and status of scope between application engineering and systems integration when there are joint pursuits and projects
• Grow Westech’s brand as a trusted advisor on difficult industrial instrument applications by offering thoughtful solutions to complex challenges
• Bring new process ideas to the Canadian marketplace
• Allow the technical sales representatives to focus more on business development and less on technical support

QUALIFICATIONS

• Engineering or technical training
• 4+ years’ experience with industrial equipment
• Ability to understand and implement electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Certifications to attend sites are considered an asset.
• Sound judgment, interpersonal skills and communication skills.
• Critical and analytical thinking, with emphasis on troubleshooting and problem solving.
• Ability to accommodate occasional travel, working varying hours, possibly on short notice.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, CRMs and ERPs.
• Ability to obtain all required Security and Safety Clearances and Certifications.
• Ability to provide pre-employment medical examination verifying fit for purpose and/or pre- employment drug and alcohol testing.
• Possess above average English written and verbal communication skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review application information for advice on technical solutions.
• Provide quotes as requested by product manager, sales team members and customers.
• Assist with the commissioning and troubleshooting of analyzers in operation. Site visits may be required.
• Follow up with vendors on quotes, update product manager and salespeople of their status.
• Update CRM tools and generate activity reporting for manufacturers for product manager review.
• Assist sr. technical lead with design and product selection as requested.
• Act as the primary internal point of contact for customers when requested.
• Communicate professionally and effectively with all parties, internal or external.
• Work with manufacturers for expediting requests.
• Interaction with CRM & ERP.
