· Position located in Auckland or Wellington · Career development and growth opportunities · Full Time - Permanent (40 Hours per week Monday – Friday) Position Description He whakamārama mo te tūranga mahi | About the role: As a Technical Lead within the Infrastructure Services, you will provide technical leadership across KiwiRail’s core infrastructure platforms. You will design, deliver, and support secure, reliable, and scalable systems that enable critical operations across the organisation. The role leads the technical stream across projects while also supporting business-as-usual infrastructure services. Working closely with Architecture, Cybersecurity, Applications, vendors, and operational teams, you will ensure solutions align with KiwiRail’s ICT strategy and operational needs. Key responsibilities include: Leading the technical delivery of infrastructure initiatives across projects and operational services Reviewing solution designs to ensure systems are secure, resilient, and cost-effective Removing technical roadblocks and guiding teams through complex infrastructure challenges Supporting infrastructure through the full lifecycle — design, build, testing, implementation, and operational handover Championing best practice across automation, monitoring, cybersecurity, and platform lifecycle management Embedding within project teams where needed to ensure successful delivery and transition to BAU support This role combines hands-on engineering with strategic technical leadership, supporting a strong One KiwiRail team approach.
