We are looking for an experienced Technology Lead for our Group Insurance Segment. The candidate is an engineer at heart and can work with Product Owners, CX Specialists, Business Analysts, and Engineers to deliver and drive a business and technology outcome.
The role will involve leading three build-and-run squads to drive delivery and transformation for our Group Insurance. You will also own technology and engineering capabilities to ensure we deliver our vision of being Australia’s leading digital insurer.
The Tech Lead reports to the Head of Engineering, with the Group Insurance Crew Lead as the key stakeholder.

You will also be responsible for the following:

• Owning the technology uplift representing architecture and technology chapters in crews and squads.
• Be a change agent and advocate for emerging Engineering best practices.
• Help the team understand and follow architectural design guardrails in partnership with the Architecture team.
• Owning and developing solutions designs across technologies and crews/squads, including detailed interface contracts, sequence diagrams, and other technical artefacts
• Accountable for delivering high-quality software solutions across technologies into production that deliver customer outcomes.
• Ensure the team builds & leverages automation effectively across our end-to-end delivery processes and the solutions offered to our business.
• Ensure technical delivery aligns with architectural and chapter roadmap.
• Work with chapter leads to enforce best practices such as code reviews, unit testing, performance testing, security, and design patterns.
• Hands-on proof of concepts to ensure solution designs are ready for development

In order to be successful in the role, you will have the following:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field (preferred)
• Multiple years experience of hands-on software development experience preferably in Insurance and/ or B2B
• Proven record of delivering technology and business outcomes.
• Understanding and experience in Domain Driven Design, TDD and BDD.
• Understand DevSecOps and roadmap to improve quality, speed & stability, including shift left and release automation.
• Experience in multiple layers of the technology stack, including frontend, backend, infrastructure, cloud, databases
• Understanding of Security protocols and best practices for developing secure software systems.
• Experience with cloud-based technology such as AWS, Docker or Kubernetes
• Experience & knowledge about CI/CD pipelines & delivery
• JIRA and Confluence Proficiency is desirable.
