THE DEPARTMENT The following teams make up the Technology department: Product Engineering, Infrastructure & Network Operations, CRM Engineering. The group identifies and develops technological strategies that support GVI’s business goals and objectives to ensure internal and external partners are provided with stable systems. These include: all desktop, network, phone and email systems, applications (reservations and operations systems), websites, and Internet access. THE ROLE Working with a globally distributed team, the Tech Lead will act as the design authority and will have technical oversite across a set of global applications. The Tech Lead will collaborate with other senior technical leaders and contribute to the overall technical vision of the organization. The role requires proficiency at delivering complex applications, breaking down barriers for the team(s), planning at a higher level and collaborating with senior management to define the technical direction for the global applications. The Tech Lead is required to help with defining the overall architecture with design and engineering, ensuring end-to-end functionality supports the evolution of the business for 24/7 up time. The role is heavily involved in planning product engineering, creating and managing effective timelines, offering feedback to solution leaders and business units and communicating with top managers to ensure the goals of the department are aligned and achievable. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES · Engineer, drive, and align architectural design and strategy across a set of global applications. · Mentor and cross-train as needed to support or back up team members. · Achieve the goals defined in strategic initiatives. · Participate in Scrum events such as planning, stand-ups, demos and retrospectives. · Lead story refinement, estimation, planning, and code review. · Execute system design, engineering, and system integration. · Investigate and resolve complex or emergent operational problems. · Identify any impediments to the progress of the strategic initiatives. · Collaborate effectively with other Engineering team members. · Support and manage GDPR and other data policy regulations · Solution architecture for strategic technical initiatives. · Establish and enforce engineering standards for organization technology CORE COMPETENCIES The preferred candidate has experience in the following · Minimum 10 years’ experience working as a software engineer with at least 3 years’ experience leading technology · Ability to work with diverse and inclusive teams to deliver quality outcomes. · Excellent analytical skills for both business and technology solutions, including the ability to articulate complexity in a clear concise manner · Strong business sense and sense of urgency to achieve business results. · Strong team player with ability to successfully collaborate with geographically distributed teams Required Technical Skills: · Software Frameworks – Microsoft .Net (8, 6, Core, 4.8.1), C#, ASP.Net, MVC, Angular, Desktop, EF, Dapper · Application Tools – Visual Studio 2022, VSCode, Git · CI/CD experience using Azure DevOps and Azure Kubernetes · Strong understanding of web standards (http protocols/verbs, browser, html, etc.) · Strong experience working within the scrum model for product delivery and work intake Preferred Skills: · Experience in regulated industries (travel, finance, healthcare) · Database – Microsoft SQL, MongoDb, Oracle · Software concepts and patterns - SOA, PubSub, Messaging, TDD, REST, GraphQL · Experience with Azure cloud hybrid environments with monolith, cloud-native coexistence, and secrets · Understanding of version control, continuous integration, and deployment tools · Experience in low-code platforms – OutSystems · Experience in hybrid environments with monolith and cloud-native coexistence · Integration experience with Global Distribution System (GDS) or Online Travel Agencies (OTA) experience is highly sought after · Experience with Identity Management technology, e.g. OAuth 2.x, Auth0, Okta.
