JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Technical Leader – Civil Structural Engineering, contributes to the team responsible for the development of Civil Engineering activities in support the New Plants Engineering projects. The Technical Leader will perform activities within a team environment, working with a global team of partner organizations and suppliers to successfully deliver New Nuclear Plant Projects.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or other engineering discipline from an accredited college or University
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in civil structural engineering
  • Professional Engineer registration in one or more state

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • For the United States the preferred work location for this role is at the GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy Headquarters in Wilmington, NC; but highly qualified (US based) remote candidates will be considered.
  • This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
  • For Canada this role requires working two days a week onsite in the Markham Ontario office.
  • For Canada GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in Canada for this opening.

Responsibilities
  • Provide Technical Leadership of a small group of Engineers and Contractors in activities related to analyses, calculations and technical evaluations required for timely resolution of design and implementation issues
  • The candidate should be capable of leading and guiding a technical team in performing seismic and soil-structure interaction (SSI) analyses, ensuring high technical quality
  • Manage project work schedules and priorities
  • Mentor and provide technical leadership in area of expertise to other engineers and projects
  • Work within a team environment to execute work plans within budget and schedule
  • Support civil systems design and/or equipment construction activities, respond to vendor questions and deviation requests; review and approve vendor document submittals
  • Support the certification processes for GE Products (e.g. BWRX-300, VTR, Natrium) to address all US NRC (or other nuclear regulator) design certification requirements
  • Establish and maintain technical oversight of the applicable regulations (e.g.; US, other national, or global region)
  • Have other duties as assigned by Manager
  • Interface with internal and external customers, suppliers, partners, licensing, the NRC and international regulatory authorities on technical issues
  • Incorporate design requirements into analyses and design documents
  • Support GEH quality requirements, including participation in design reviews, initiating and
  • Manage the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned systems using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
  • Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures
  • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
