Pay range is $100,000 - $115,000 Position Summary Primarily responsible for the oversight of technical knowledge and operations within a calibration lab including training, performing calibrations, data review, and process improvement. Support the Service Operations Manager in the execution of their duties, and when delegated, represent the Manager in their absence. Meet corporate, divisional, and lab goals while maintaining customer requirements through the effective oversight of the Calibration Laboratory staff. Capable of completing work independently within the lab or onsite at a customer location with no guidance. Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities Model the Company’s values to influence others to perform in an aligned manner Responsible for the oversight of technical knowledge and operations within a calibration lab including training, performing calibrations, data review, and process improvement Maintain calibration standards Collaborate with internal Quality and Metrology teams to maintain quality policies that assures lab compliance with ISO17025 and other standards Work with metrology to document, investigate and determine any impact to standards and customer equipment as a result of asset calibrations Provide on-going technical assistance and training to all lab technicians Leverage technology to enhance technician productivity Schedule workload to meet customer and company commitments Responsible for assisting the Calibration Service Operations Manager in the execution of their duties, and when delegated, represent the Manager in their absence Take corrective action on nonconforming customer issues, assuring a sustainable solution is implemented Assist Sales with understanding customer technical requirements while allowing Transcat to achieve favorable results Drive a culture of continuous improvement at all levels of the organization Utilize lean enterprise tools to eliminate waste and optimize processes Travel is occasionally required, up to 25% Ensure training and development plans are in place and communicated to employees to drive performance improvement and career progression Complete and deliver accurate, thorough, and prescriptive employee performance reviews on the required timeline Other duties as assigned Qualifications Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Call upon high-level skills, techniques, and processes to independently calibrate, troubleshoot, and adjust a high volume of high-level equipment with few errors Ability to understand, calculate, and apply uncertainties to measurements made and conduct independent research when necessary Ability to interface directly with customers to fulfill their calibration needs both in-lab or on-site Demonstrate ability to lead and coach individuals/teams to accomplish productivity goals and identify opportunities for improvement Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) certification through ASQ is desirable Must possess a valid driver’s license Education and Experience Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferably in a technical field 5+ years’ experience in repair and calibration of instruments, preferably in progressively responsible positions or equivalent combination of education and experience PMEL (Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory) or TMDE (Test Measurement Diagnostic Equipment) training should sufficiently prepare a candidate for this position Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
