Description

DESCRIPTION

Berkeley Capital is the largest division in Berkeley Group, focuses on large-scale brownfield regeneration projects in London, stitching these vast and isolated spaces back into the local fabric, bringing them to life with the right mix of homes, amenities, natural landscapes and open spaces.
Our award-winning developments include some of the country’s best-known long-term regeneration projects, such as Woodberry Down, Kidbrooke Village and Royal Arsenal Riverside.
Our sustainable, mixed-use neighbourhoods are designed in partnership with local communities, delivering the amenities and opportunities they value most, and ensuring they benefit first from regeneration.
As a business we are committed to fostering a positive working environment, where our people feel valued, empowered and able to grow.

Responsibilities

Berkeley Homes (East London) LTD seeks a highly skilled Technical Manager to lead the assessment of legacy schemes within the portfolio as part of discharging our Developer Remediation Contract (DRC) obligations. This pivotal role demands expertise in facade remediation, deep knowledge of UK building regulations, and a proven track record in managing medium to high-rise projects. The successful candidate will ensure compliance, safety, and quality while driving innovation in refurbishment and retrofit strategies.

Technical Leadership & Facade Expertise

  • Lead the internal and external assessment process of legacy schemes, ensuring compliance with UK building regulations (e.g., Part B Fire Safety, Part L Conservation of Fuel and Power), Building Safety Act 2022, and PAS 9980 fire risk assessments.
  • Assist with design, specification, and execution of medium/high-rise facade projects, addressing structural integrity, fire safety, thermal performance, and aesthetic standards.
  • Assist with the review of contractor proposals, technical drawings, and material specifications to align with project-specific requirements.
  • Resolve complex technical challenges, balancing cost, programme, and regulatory obligations.
  • Provide technical guidance on refurbishment of aging regional assets, including structural and façade remediation.
  • Oversee PAP responsibilities to ensure Building Safety Cases are submitted, kept ‘live’ and MOR processes are followed.
