WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Minimum of ten years’ experience in a technical role within the construction materials industry.
  • Engineering/materials science degree is highly regarded, but not essential.
  • Proven experience managing a continuous improvement program would be a strong advantage.
  • Working knowledge of QEST - Laboratory Information Management System.
  • Thorough working knowledge of Australian Standards, Infrastructure Specifications and Low Carbon Concrete guidelines, with the ability to contribute to their ongoing refinement and development.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), with the ability to interact with and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Highly analytical with the ability to interpret trends in data and report on opportunities for improvement and non-conformances.
  • Commercially savvy, with the ability to identify and optimise products and processes to deliver tangible business outcomes.

Responsibilities

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Group Manager - Quality & Innovation, this senior technical role is tasked with the relentless pursuit of driving operational excellence across our Concrete & Aggregates and Masonry divisions to deliver consistent, compliant and competitive product quality at the lowest operational cost.
Working with Adbri’s technical and operations team this role will ensure our Concrete & Aggregates and Masonry divisions are operating in accordance with best practice guidelines and will lead a value adding operational excellence program that delivers agreed EBITDA improvement.
The role will be based at our Hytec Sydney Silverwater offices, however alternative locations may be considered as acceptable for the successful applicant.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide product subject matter expertise and support to our regional concrete & aggregates and masonry technical teams.
  • Lead and drive our ISO9001 management system to ensure it delivers value and consistent quality.
  • Establish and drive implementation of best practice quality guidelines for our concrete & aggregates and masonry divisions in relation to: inspection and test plans, batching controls, mix design and optimisation, contract review processes, adoption of QEST, and training materials.
  • Identification and driving of key improvement initiatives to drive operational excellence and improve product quality.
  • Measurement, monitoring, tracking and reporting of progress against agreed improvement opportunities, ensuring operational excellence objectives are delivered in a timely manner.
