Position Overview:
An opportunity has come up for a Grade 2 Laboratory Technical Officer to join our friendly team at Austech Medical Laboratories Histology Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a range of laboratory duties to support various departments within our laboratory.
Key Responsibilities:
- Day to day maintenance of equipment
- Perform tissue grossing, processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining procedures following standard protocols.
- Operate and maintain histology laboratory equipment, ensuring regular calibration and quality checks.
- Preparation of laboratory reagents and replenishment of stock as required
- Collaborate with pathologists, scientists, and other technical staff to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Loading slides onto staining machine
- Embedding, Trimming and Cutting is essential
- Direct transfer of Simple Specimens may be required.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Science/ Diploma of Laboratory Technology, Diploma of Science or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years laboratory experience in a Histopathology Diagnostic Laboratory
- Good knowledge of routine histopathology laboratory practice and techniques
- Previous experience in a histology laboratory setting, including grossing, is preferred.

- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team

- Flexibility to work shifts and weekends as required
- Excellent time management skills
- Demonstrated ability to work accurately and reliably
