Position Overview:
An opportunity has come up for a Grade 2 Laboratory Technical Officer to join our friendly team at Austech Medical Laboratories Histology Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a range of laboratory duties to support various departments within our laboratory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Day to day maintenance of equipment
  • Perform tissue grossing, processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining procedures following standard protocols.
  • Operate and maintain histology laboratory equipment, ensuring regular calibration and quality checks.
  • Preparation of laboratory reagents and replenishment of stock as required
  • Collaborate with pathologists, scientists, and other technical staff to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Loading slides onto staining machine
  • Embedding, Trimming and Cutting is essential
  • Direct transfer of Simple Specimens may be required.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science/ Diploma of Laboratory Technology, Diploma of Science or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years laboratory experience in a Histopathology Diagnostic Laboratory
  • Good knowledge of routine histopathology laboratory practice and techniques
  • Previous experience in a histology laboratory setting, including grossing, is preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to work independently
  • Flexibility to work shifts and weekends as required
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work accurately and reliably
