Description
[What the role is] As a Technical Officer (TO), you will support policies and schemes within the Electrical Engineering Department, ensuring the smooth operation of workshops, labs, and specialised equipment. You will also play a key role in integrating digitalisation, Generative AI (GenAI), and process automation into lab management and training processes. [What you will be working on] 1. Maintain and upkeep electrical engineering workshops, including equipment calibration, testing facilities, and specialized software systems. 2. Carry out predictive and AI-driven maintenance, servicing, and repairs of electrical test equipment, measurement instruments, and training apparatus. 3. Manage the day-to-day operations of electrical labs, including equipment setup, circuit testing preparation, and safety compliance checks. 4. Facilitate the department's procurement of electrical components, test equipment, tools and training materials. 5. Maintain proper documentation of equipment maintenance schedules, calibration records, and safety inspection reports. 6. Provide technical support to teaching staff during laboratory sessions and practical assessments. [What we are looking for] 1. Minimum of three years of relevant industrial experience in electrical/electronic engineering field. 2. Suitable credentials in Electrical Engineering or related technical disciplines. 3. Proficient in using electrical test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, etc.) and electrical CAD software. 4. Good knowledge of electrical safety regulations, including Singapore Standard SS638, electrical installation codes, and workplace safety requirements. 5. Experience with electrical laboratory management, asset tracking, and inventory control systems. 6. Competent in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and technical documentation. 7. Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to maintain and analyse detailed technical data using AI-based tools. 8. Experience with Generative AI, automation tools, or digital workflow systems (e.g. Power BI, Python, UiPath, Microsoft Power Automate) would be an advantage. 9. Adaptability to new technologies and eagerness to upskill in AI, digitalization, and automation. 10. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to enhance lab efficiency. 11. Excellent communication and collaboration skills to support instructors and students.
