Description
[What the role is] As a Technical Officer (TO), you will support the effective operation of laboratories, workshops and college-level facilities within the Electrical Engineering discipline. You will be responsible for asset and inventory management, procurement, and the maintenance and operation of labs and workshops to ensure a safe, well-maintained and operational training environment in accordance with institutional policies and audit requirements. [What you will be working on] Manage and maintain electrical engineering laboratories and workshops, including equipment, tools and training systems. Carry out maintenance, servicing and repairs of laboratory and workshop equipment, and ensure proper housekeeping of facilities. Manage assets, stores and inventory, including asset tagging, stock control and regular inventory checks. Handle procurement of equipment, tools, consumables and training materials, including sourcing quotations and liaising with vendors. Prepare, issue and maintain laboratory and workshop training materials and equipment. Support the setup and operational readiness of labs and workshops for practical training and assessments. Ensure compliance with safety regulations, institutional procedures and equipment handling requirements. Maintain documentation and records related to maintenance, inventory, procurement and safety. Support internal and external audits (e.g. ISO and other audit exercises) by ensuring facilities and records are audit-ready. Maintain and upkeep college-level facilities related to laboratories and workshops. Perform any other operational or administrative duties as assigned. [What we are looking for] 1. Suitable credentials in Electrical Engineering or related technical disciplines. 2. Relevant experience in laboratory, workshop or technical support environments. 3. Experience in asset management, inventory control and procurement processes. 4. Knowledge of laboratory/workshop safety practices and equipment maintenance. 5. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) for documentation and reporting. 6. Good organisational skills with attention to detail. 7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 8. Good communication and coordination skills. 9.
