Job Description We are seeking an experienced Technical Officer to join our Simulation & Practical Experience team, supporting the delivery of high-quality simulation and practical learning activities, primarily within Nursing and Midwifery. This is a hands-on technical role that works across both clinical simulation and skills sessions and the Anatomy & Physiology (A&P) laboratories, ensuring students experience coordinated, safe and authentic learning across all settings. Reporting to the Team Leader, you will play a key role in the day-to-day operations of our simulation laboratories and A&P teaching spaces. You will provide expert technical advice and hands-on support for immersive simulation activities, including the procurement, maintenance, setup and demonstration of simulation and clinical equipment across our simulation spaces. In parallel, you will assist in identifying and coordinating material and equipment requirements for Anatomy and Physiology practical activities; prepare chemical solutions; handle and prepare dissection materials (e.g., pig hearts, lamb brains) in accordance with biosafety and WHS procedures; and support the setup, reset and pack-down of practical laboratories. This role offers a high level of variety and requires the ability to respond quickly, confidently and informatively in a dynamic university setting. We are looking for a proactive, solutions-focused professional who is committed to continuous, self-directed learning and who will contribute to outstanding student experiences and the ongoing success of the team. To be successful in this role, you will bring excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a proactive approach to supporting classroom-based learning. You will also demonstrate: A relevant health-related degree, with subsequent experience providing technical support within Health related learning environments. Experience supporting health or laboratory-based teaching in a university setting, and/or the ability to quickly adapt within a complex organisation. Well-developed critical thinking skills, with a high level of organisation and attention to detail. Strong knowledge of Work Health and Safety requirements within specialised teaching environments. Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-focused mindset. The ability to follow direction while also working autonomously, provide support to a small team, adapt to changing priorities, and manage multiple tasks concurrently. Highly regarded: Experience providing technical support for clinical simulations, including set up, pack down and demonstrations of simulation and clinical equipment (e.g., manikins, task trainers, clinical devices). problem solving. Experience and knowledge in handling chemicals, making solutions, and handling dissection material (e.g., pig hearts, lamb brains), including correct labelling, storage, decontamination and biological waste disposal in line with WHS requirements. Confidence working across both clinical simulation and A&P environments, managing multiple concurrent classes and delivering consistent room readiness and technical support. What we can offer This is a continuing, part-time (60%/21.75hrs per week) position based at Griffith Gold Coast. As Griffith is a multi-site University you may be required to work across other locations. Salary Range The full-time equivalent salary range will be HEW Level 4 $73,623 - $77,680 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $86,138 - $90,885 per annum.
