Responsibilities
  • Leading the development of technical plans for the lifecycle management of radioactive waste.
  • Leading the development of technical deliverables in support of the Integrated Waste Strategy, including supporting work related to waste characterization, processing, packaging, transportation, and disposal.
  • Collaboratively developing plans that focus on safe, compliant, and effective management of nuclear liabilities while keeping an eye on the “big picture” of the CNL waste and fuel management mission.
  • Performing comprehensive reviews and analysis of historical data from CNL sites, applying well-developed technical knowledge and experience, and making data-based recommendations for decisions with significant long-term impact on CNL operations and projects.
  • Providing subject-matter expertise toward developing strategic and project plans for specific projects to ensure ongoing alignment with CNL’s Waste Strategy, along with identifying opportunities and areas for improvement.
  • Providing subject-matter expertise toward developing detailed Project Plans that incorporate technical and business-related concerns, such as Project Management Plans, Work Plans, Scope Documents, Business Cases, technical reports, and Strategy Documents.
  • Interfacing with planning and technical staff in other parts of CNL to coherently and integratedly meet Chalk River Laboratories’ needs.
  • Working with stakeholders, internal and external to CNL, to identify and leverage opportunities for technical partnerships and collaboration.
  • Contributing significantly to the growth of knowledge and technological advancements at CNL regarding radioactive waste management.
  • Performing other duties, as expected of a senior-level professional, as assigned by your manager, supporting the overall Integrated Waste and Fuel Programs mission across CNL sites.
