Description

This is what you are going to do

As a Technical Product Manager, together with the Product Owner, Lead Engineers, and the Operations team, you are responsible for the planning and coordination of our private cloud platform. You contribute to reliable service delivery and to initiatives that further develop the platform and associated services, making them future-proof.

Additionally, you serve as a technical partner for the platform teams. You identify collaboration opportunities, ensure the right stakeholders are involved, and initiate and guide proofs of concept for new features within the platform. Our private cloud platform is continuously evolving towards a layered architecture, both technically and organizationally. The role of Technical Product Manager evolves along with this. In the long term, you may become responsible for one or more layers within the platform.

As Technical Product Manager:

  • you coordinate the planning and prioritization regarding the service delivery and further development of our private cloud platform and ensure good alignment between the involved teams;
  • you contribute to a platform that offers users more autonomy, flexibility, and control over the available infrastructure capabilities;
  • you continuously work on improving service management, operational processes, and the user-friendliness of the platform;
  • you assist in establishing standards and operational KPIs and in making clear agreements regarding the management and further development of the platform;
  • you translate the capabilities of the platform into clear service delivery, concrete priorities for the roadmap, and executable implementation plans;
  • you are a technical point of contact for engineering teams, architects, and internal users, and you ensure that their needs align well with the direction in which the platform is developing;
  • Initiate and coordinate your proofs of concept for new services such as Kubernetes-as-a-Service and Bare Metal Provisioning

Responsibilities

Bring this with you

You combine a solid technical foundation with strong skills in collaboration and stakeholder management. You feel at home in complex infrastructure environments and know how to bring technical teams and other stakeholders together to reach sound decisions. You work in a structured manner, communicate clearly, and can make technical issues understandable to various target groups. At the same time, you continuously focus on improving the platform and the associated services.

You have experience with and knowledge of several of the following areas:

  • technical product management, managing infrastructure services, platform engineering or a similar technical product role;
  • bringing together architects, engineers, operations, and other stakeholders and facilitating joint decision-making;
  • translating technical possibilities and issues into clear priorities, concrete initiatives, and improvements in service delivery;
  • continuously improving service management, operational processes, and the use of platform services;
  • initiating, coordinating, or evaluating technical proofs of concept and other initiatives to further improve the platform;
  • cloud infrastructure, platform engineering and infrastructure automation;
  • technologies such as OpenStack, Ceph, and Kubernetes and relevant tools within this technical environment.

In addition, you are pragmatic and results-oriented. You have an eye for reliable service delivery, a good user experience for developers, and the successful deployment of new and existing platform services.

We highly value diverse backgrounds and are particularly interested in people who combine technical expertise with the ability to bring teams together and turn complex challenges into practical improvements.

At SURF, we enjoy handling our recruitment ourselves; therefore, we do not appreciate unsolicited acquisition.
