SUMMARY

In conjunction with Weatherhaven Business Development and Technical teams, the Technical Product Manager will identify potential products, conduct market research, generate product requirements, determine technical performance specifications, negotiate and help facilitate, prototype production schedules, develop product development budgets, forecast sales prices and develop marketing strategies in concert with Weatherhaven’s Global Sales and Marketing teams.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Working with key Global Weatherhaven Business development leadership, determine technical customer needs and desires for the ideal product mix.
  • Recommend the nature and scope of present and future product lines by reviewing product specifications and requirements, appraising new product ideas and/or product/packaging changes.
  • Conduct competitive product analysis on an annual basis, comparing Weatherhaven’s existing and proposed products to leading competitor offerings.
  • Assess and report on product market potential via customer focus sessions, in conjunction with Weatherhaven Sales staff.
  • Bring new products to market by analyzing proposed product requirements and product development programs, preparing return-on-investment analyses and establishing time schedules with engineering and manufacturing.
  • Chair Value Engineering meetings to facilitate manufacturing optimization objectives.
  • Work with Weatherhaven’s Global Supply Chain team to ensure regional manufacturing capability while adhering to comparative advantage objectives.
  • Provide short-term and long-term product sales forecasts and special reports as required.
  • Provide In Service Support forecasts by product.
  • Conduct a benefits analysis on Weatherhaven maintaining select finished goods inventories as a method of facilitating improved product turnover.
  • Introduce and market new products by developing time integrated plans with Sales, Advertising, and Production.
  • Conduct marketing analysis on Weatherhaven’s main competitors and their products.
  • Provides source data for Marketing Communications as required.
  • Determine product pricing by utilizing market research data, detailed cost analysis and forecasted demand.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, review professional publications, establish and maintain personal networks and participate in professional societies.
  • Recommend and maintain a product demonstration fleet.
  • Formalize an internal product training program to ensure that all Business Development personnel are current.
  • Ensure product revision information is disseminated throughout all aspects of the Business Development organization, ensuring staff and marketing materials remain current.

BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Appropriate professional and technical training.
  • Engineering bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Previous Product Management experience is desired.
  • A minimum of 3 years experience leading a Product Development team.
  • A minimum of 5 years working with Military and Government organizations.
  • Possess a direct customer relationship portfolio.
  • Previous experience working with a multi-disciplined team.
  • Possess a valid Canadian passport and driver’s license.
  • Be eligible to obtain Security Clearances.
