ABOUT THE VALD PRODUCT TEAM

The VALD Product team is charged with turning ideas and feedback from clients into reality. The team is split into two functions - product strategy and engineering.
Our product team is passionate about client needs and understands how to translate those needs into features.
We are looking for a Technical Product Owner to join our Product Strategy team. The successful candidate will be responsible for owning the product lifecycle of VALD’s SAAS Core Services including capabilities such as authentication, authorisation, compliance and other foundational services.
You will be working closely with engineering and product teams to lead structured discovery efforts, maintain a prioritised backlog, and coordinate delivery across teams.

IS THIS YOU?

  • Experience as a Product Manager, Product Owner, Business Analyst, Software Engineer or similar in a SAAS environment.
  • Comfortable engaging conversations with engineers to ensure technical decisions and trade-offs are well understood and appropriately weighed against business requirements and outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, backlog management and delivery tracking.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with cloud-native platforms, identity management, authentication, compliance and API-first architectures.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and drive alignment across teams.
  • A growth mindset aligned with VALD’s culture of continuous learning and development.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and interpersonal communications skills.
  • Strong leadership skills and curiosity to understand how product solve business problems.
We recognise that not all applicants will have the skills that match a job description exactly. VALD’s best asset is not our technology, but our people and culture. We choose people based on how well we think they will work in the VALD team.
If you’re passionate about building impactful products and want to be part of a team that values innovation and collaboration, we’d love to hear from you.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

While you won’t be responsible for designing technical solutions, you will be expected to understand technical constraints, contribute meaningfully to technical conversations, and ensure that business requirements are accurately captured and maintained. Your ability to follow technical discussions and assess the impact of decisions and trade-offs on requirements and business outcomes will be central to the success of the product. You’ll engage with stakeholders across VALD to ensure our Core Services capabilities meet internal and external needs.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:

  • Lead product discovery to understand business needs, functionality gaps and user pain points for VALD’s SAAS Core Services team.
  • Translate insights into clear user requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Maintain a prioritised backlog aligned with business priorities and strategy.
  • Facilitate agile ceremonies including planning, grooming and retrospectives.
  • Coordinate delivery across engineering and product teams to ensure predictable execution.
  • Contribute to technical discussions to support solution design.
  • Represent the Core Services domain in cross-functional collaboration efforts.
  • Collaborate with engineering to create transparent frameworks and processes.
  • Manage external requests and support the team’s velocity by reducing external distractions (eg support tickets and ad-hoc requests) based in their priority.
  • Support the Core Services Technical Lead in delivery coordination and team leadership.
  • Align cross-team dependencies and unblock delivery.
  • Contribute to roadmap development and long-term planning.
