Halliburton is one of the pioneers in Drilling Engineering and has participated in the development of the Norwegian continental shelf hydrocarbon resources since the first test well in 1966.
In order the strengthen our engineering organization we are looking for an Experienced Drilling Technical Advisor for our Drilling Engineering Solutions department based in Stavanger, Norway.
We are looking for motivated personnel to take on this challenge where the ability to effectively communicate and facilitate technical dialogue both internally and externally is a key requirement.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position requires daily customer interface and organizing resources in an ever-changing environment where work time may be split between the Halliburton facility and the customers office.

The main tasks are:

  • Provide customer support and interface in the creation of drilling programs and supporting documentation.
  • The role is accountable to create, communicate and execute the design of service for safe and efficient well delivery process.
  • Assists in publishing commercial and technical successes.
  • Delivers the developed solutions requirements for designing the well plan, following anti-collision processes, BHA Design modeling requirements, and generating design of service documentation.
  • Generates reports using the current software applications.
  • Fully understands the principles of survey management and can apply them to well planning process.
  • Develops and maintains personal relationships with the technical customer base.
  • Provides recommendations on equipment capabilities and advises customers and field personnel on technical complexity and operation.
  • Presentation and communication both internally and externally on Directional Drilling Technology, Technical Solutions Profiles and Design of Service.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2+ years field Experience as a Directional Driller is preferred
  • 5+ years as a Directional Technical Advisor or an equivalent customer facing position where being deployed “in-house” will be an advantage.
  • Well Design experience in a broad amount of projects/clients (Trajectory design, Anti-collision, T&D, Hydraulics, BHA modeling, technology application, drilling solutions, SQ investigation), with Drilling Engineering experience.
  • Strong Technical knowledge
  • Customer facing experience in a technical job role with a proven track record in developing solutions in complex drilling environments.
  • Preferably Master (MSc) or Bachelor degree (BSc) in Petroleum Engineering, Geology, Science or other relevant fields
  • Fluency in English verbally and written required, beneficial with a Norwegian language
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Solution oriented, adaptable, and flexible to move within Norway
Responsibilities

JOB DUTIES

Under broad direction, uses drilling domain expertise to develop technical solutions to improve customer/PSL performance for assigned geography and publishes commercial and technical successes. Continually interacts with the customer to understand current and future engineering requirements and project objectives. Individuals at this level are considered the senior technical specialists for the local organization in the application of products, services, concepts, principles, and processes related to drilling services and in presenting this information to customers. Responsible for the preparation and delivery to the customer of the design of service requirements for drilling services. Identifies opportunities for use of additional services and new technologies for existing customers. Performs risk analysis and applies critical lessons learned to future operations. Performs post-job reviews, participates in product/service failure investigations and reports findings to the customer. Peer-reviews and mentors less experienced team members. Offers advice on equipment capabilities and advises customers and field personnel on technical complexity and operation. Requires an undergraduate degree in STEM discipline and 6 years of industry experience.
