Job Details: Role: Technical Project Manager Location: Vienna, VA (Hybrid - 2 days/week in office) Type: Contract Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Technical Project Manager (TPM) to join our team in Vienna, VA. This role involves managing complex technical projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technology, excellent leadership skills, and proven experience working with large-scale financial or government systems. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring two days per week in the Vienna office. Key Responsibilities Project Leadership: Lead and manage the full project lifecycle for technical initiatives, from initiation and planning through execution, monitoring, control, and closure. Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary point of contact, coordinating communication and expectations between technical teams, business stakeholders, and senior management. Scope and Schedule Management: Define project scope, goals, and deliverables. Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and work breakdown structures (WBS). Risk and Issue Management: Proactively identify, analyze, and manage project risks and issues, developing mitigation strategies and resolution plans. Budget Oversight: Monitor and control project budgets, tracking expenditures and ensuring financial targets are met. Team Coordination: Facilitate effective cross-functional collaboration between development, engineering, operations, and business analysis teams. Methodology Adherence: Drive the use of appropriate project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Waterfall) and governance standards. Reporting: Prepare and present regular project status reports, performance metrics, and post-implementation reviews to management and stakeholders. Quality Assurance: Ensure all project deliverables meet quality standards and organizational objectives. Qualifications Required Experience: Minimum of 10-12 years of experience as a Technical Project Manager managing IT projects, preferably within the financial services or a highly regulated environment (e.g., government, defense). Technical Acumen: Strong understanding of core IT concepts, including software development lifecycles (SDLC), infrastructure, cybersecurity, and enterprise-level system integrations. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field. Methodologies: Proven experience utilizing and leading teams in Agile (Scrum/Kanban) and Waterfall methodologies. Tools: Proficiency with project management tools such as Microsoft Project, JIRA, Confluence, or similar platforms. Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical audiences. Preferred Certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), or equivalent certification. Domain Knowledge: Previous experience with projects related to core banking systems, financial data security, credit union operations, or large-scale member service platforms. Technical Skills: Familiarity with modern technology stacks, cloud computing (AWS, Azure), and DevSecOps practices.
