TECHNICAL PROJECT MANAGER AT BERTHON BOAT CO LTD, LYMINGTON

An important project management position will arise in August due to the upcoming retirement of the current project manager after 51 years at Berthon.
You will be managing refits, repairs and maintenance of boats 20’ – 80’ for Berthon’s wide range of commercial customers, including port authorities, MoD, Border Force, fisheries and survey organisations.

This is a full-time role at Berthon’s Lymington shipyard (not hybrid or WFH).
Project management experience in the marine industry a must.
Marine engineering knowledge an advantage.

Responsibilities
  • Following up enquiries from customers
  • Pursuing opportunities
  • Liaising with manufacturers regarding specifications
  • Viewing boats to draw up technical specification
  • Costing labour and materials
  • Quoting customers
  • Following up customers after quoting
  • Obtaining signed orders & deposit payments
  • Scheduling work
  • Preparing project plans at both high and detailed level
  • Managing labour
  • Managing materials
  • Managing sub-contractors
  • Checking timesheets
  • Monitor and control progress against plan to ensure timely completion
  • Record and act upon quality issues and prepare rework plans
  • Monitor and control costs to ensure profitability
  • Provide detailed management reports
  • Maintain accurate up-to-date records
  • Setting to work
  • Sea trials
  • Familiarisation of new equipment with operator
  • Invoicing & the collection of payment
  • After-refit service
  • Further duties as may be required for the effective and efficient running of the company
