Driven by culture and the innate creativity of our residents, we have developed new and innovative ways to build our communities. Our Council is relentlessly resident-focused, insight-led, digitally driven and commercially minded; a Council focused on meeting the needs of our existing and future residents.  London Borough of Waltham Forest is one of the Mayor of London’s Good Work Standard [https://www.london.gov.uk/good-work-standard] employers. This accreditation is a proof of our commitment to creating a healthy, fair and inclusive workplace. This includes fair pay and conditions, workplace well-being, skills and progression and diversity and recruitment.  The Council’s preference is for online application. However, if you have a disability and are unable to complete an online application, please email recruitment@walthamforest.gov.uk so we can arrange an alternative application method.    About the role:  We are looking for a proactive and organised Technical Project Officer to support the delivery of sustainable transport and public realm schemes across the borough. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in projects that help create safer, greener and more accessible streets for our communities. In this role, you will work closely with engineers and project managers to support the planning, design and delivery of infrastructure schemes. You will play a key part in ensuring that projects run smoothly, are well-coordinated and are delivered to a high standard, while also helping to manage the essential processes that sit behind successful project delivery. You will support a wide range of project activities, from early design through to delivery and post-implementation review. This will include assisting with technical design work, producing drawings using AutoCAD and supporting engineers with feasibility work and scheme development. You will also undertake site visits, collect and analyse data, and help ensure that designs are informed by accurate and up-to-date information. A significant part of the role involves managing and coordinating project information. You will support the procurement of surveys, analyse data and present findings to inform decision-making. You will also help track Traffic Management Orders and ensure that records are kept up to date and aligned with project requirements. You will play an important role in supporting consultation and engagement activities. This includes helping to organise public events, preparing materials, attending meetings and ensuring that feedback from residents, businesses and stakeholders is captured and reported effectively. You will also attend a range of meetings, including ward forums, exhibitions and drop-in sessions, representing the Council in a professional and approachable manner. Alongside this, you will manage and coordinate a high volume of correspondence, including enquiries from residents, Councillors and MPs, as well as Freedom of Information requests and complaints. You will ensure that all correspondence is logged, tracked and responded to within required timeframes, maintaining a high standard of customer service. You will also support financial and administrative processes within the team. This includes raising and managing purchase orders, processing invoices and goods receipting, and assisting with financial reporting to support budget monitoring. You will contribute to procurement processes by preparing documentation and helping to coordinate activities in line with Council procedures. Throughout your work, you will ensure that all activities are carried out safely and in accordance with Construction Design and Management (CDM) requirements, as well as Council policies and procedures. >> Click here to download the Role Profile
