We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Technical Representative of Horticulture, who is passionate about soil health, sustainable agriculture, and local food production to join our growing team. This role is essential in providing exceptional customer service and technical assistance related to our products and services in the horticulture and landscaping industry.

We pride ourselves in offering personalized consultation to design programs tailored to each grower’s unique soil conditions, crop types, and overall growing needs. ViviGro currently an expanding community of growers across Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Ontario and British Columbia.
Within ViviGro Sustainable Solutions, Old Plow Naturals is a branch dedicated to horticulture solutions. We provide a wide range of products for vegetable and fruit producers, greenhouse growers, and landscape companies. We are seeking a Technical Representative of Horticulture who is passionate about soil health, sustainable agriculture, and local food production to join our growing team.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • P.Ag or P.AIT or CCA (Certified Crop Advisor)
  • Degree in horticulture, agriculture, environmental studies, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in horticulture consulting, field agronomy, or related technical advisory role.
  • Valid Driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Strong knowledge of soil health, plant nutrition, plant pathology, and sustainable production systems.
  • Ability to work extended hours and travel extensively during peak season (up to 50% of time May–August).
  • Familiarity with fertilizer regulations, environmental safety, and organic certification processes.

SKILLS

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to clearly explain technical information.
  • Strong customer service mindset to understand client needs and provide tailored technical advice.
  • Ability to diagnose crop and soil issues in the field and recommend effective solutions.
  • Organized and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Quick to respond to technical queries with accuracy and professionalism

Responsibilities
  • Meet with growers to promote Old Plow products and educate on soil health best practices.
  • Provide product recommendations based on soil and tissue analysis.
  • Deliver technical support to clients and distributors.
  • Serve as the customer’s primary point of contact for technical queries and ongoing support.
  • Troubleshoot crop growth issues related to nutrition, soil conditions, or disease pressure.
  • Advise on proper application and usage of Old Plow products.
  • Support sales efforts through ViviGro distributors and partner networks.
  • Act as an Old Plow brand ambassador at all events and customer interactions.
  • Plan and lead outreach events (trade shows, seminars, garden tours, workshops, presentations) across the Prairies (AB, SK, MB, BC).
  • Assist in the creation of marketing and educational resources for growers.
  • Promote adoption of eco-friendly fertilization strategies in line with company mission and values.
