Description

Provides engineering expertise in support of a wide range of transportation and logistics related efforts. Generally performs as a Task Leader on more complex project assignments under the guidance of a Team Leader.

MINIMUM POSITION KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) preferably in an engineering discipline. A minimum of 12 years engineering experience. Experience must include specialized engineering involving major project management responsibilities. Experience must also include all phases of engineering support including problem formulation/specification, system design, data collection, systems engineering and analysis, problem resolution, and documentation of results. Good oral and written communication skills; working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications; organizational skills, and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required. Position may require travel. Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform a range of design development, analysis, or review tasks independently providing supervision of contributing engineers.
  • Responsible for complete designs, analyses, or design reviews independently or as the group leader.
  • Generate complete design specifications for the most complex projects.
  • Develop, maintain and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications.
  • Direct interface and liaison with internal and external customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications.
  • Conduct site visits and experimental investigations and analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations.
  • Prepare oral presentations and written reports to management, indicating solution or range of possible alternatives in rank of desirability and probability of success when there is no single solution.
