Description

COMPANY DESCRIPTION

At Alan Spargo Ltd, we’re specialists in precision engineering, toolmaking, and press tooling. For over 50 years, we’ve partnered with leading manufacturers across industries like F1 & motorsport, automotive, aerospace, military, construction and electronics. Our reputation is built on bespoke craftsmanship, high quality precision and personalised customer service - and now we’re growing.
We are looking for a Technical Sales Manager who can work autonomously and take real ownership of developing our sales function. This is not a back-office support role - it is a proactive, hands-on position where you will be expected to drive results, generate leads, and manage the sales pipeline independently.
The ideal candidate will combine technical understanding with commercial drive, ensuring customers receive accurate quotations and excellent service while actively building new opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary point of contact for customer enquiries, building strong, professional relationships.
  • Prepare and issue accurate quotations and estimates, drawing on your technical/engineering knowledge where appropriate.
  • Take full ownership of managing the sales pipeline - from lead generation and qualification through to order processing and account management.
  • Proactively seek out and develop new business opportunities through networking, prospecting, and follow-ups.
  • Maintain and update the CRM system with accurate sales data and customer interactions.
  • Liaise closely with engineering and production teams to ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Support the continuous improvement of our sales processes, helping to shape and build out the sales function.

Skills & Experience (Essential)

  • Proven ability to work independently and deliver results without close supervision.
  • Experience in technical sales, sales support, or account management.
  • Strong organisational skills, able to manage multiple enquiries and priorities effectively.
  • Confident in CRM usage and pipeline management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable with lead generation and winning new business.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills for preparing quotations.

Desirable Experience

  • Background in engineering, manufacturing, or other technical industries.
  • Previous experience preparing quotations or estimates for technical projects.
  • Familiarity with engineering processes and terminology.

Personal Attributes

  • Self-starter with initiative, drive, and resilience.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, keen to help shape and grow the sales function.
  • Customer-focused, with strong relationship-building skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary depending on experience.
  • Performance related bonus
  • Opportunity to take a central role in developing our sales function.
  • A lean, collaborative environment where your contribution will have real impact.
  • Company Pension
  • Private Healthcare
